Yesterday I couldn’t work on my sweater, but I really wanted to knit. So, the only thing to do was to start a new project, of course. 🙂

The yarn I am using for the sweater has patterns on the back of the labels, and one of them seemed so easy, even I could totally try and decipher this weird secret code. So, I gave it a try. And it sort of worked… I mean, it was supposed to end a 10ins square dishcloth, only mine is more of a diamond. And I’ll most likely use it as a pot holder, but, hey it could’ve been worse…

And here are the instructions for the pattern:

Cast on 3 sts.

1st row: (RS). Knit.

2nd row: K1. Inc 1 st in next st. Knit to end of row.

Rep last row to 53sts.

Next row: K2. K2tog. Knit to end of row.

Rep last row to 3 sts. Cast off.

Easy, no?

I wonder if there is a way to increase and decrease that would’ve ended up with an even square. I kinda like mine the way it is, though. I think it would look good if it was hanging, but I like my kitchen uncluttered, so I keep my pot holders in a drawer by the stove and microwave where I need them. Even the colors go with my kitchen, so I might make a few more and replace my old ones.

A little dictionary for my own benefit:
st(s): stitch(es)
RS: Right Side
K: Knit
Inc: Increase
Rep: Repeat
K2tog: Knit 2 together (decrease)
